Kayfabe or not to Kayfabe is the question???
----I have got a few e-mails in the last couple of days just addressing items about what I
report and such. The e-mails were from people that I highly respect in this business. I
do not mean any disrespect to them or anyone in general, but the following our items
that I must clear up. I really think the big thing is that a lot of what I report is a shock to
people, because no one has ever covered this area as such. When I decided to start
this online zine, then I decided I was going to try to make it honest and not insult the
readers.
----Kayfabe does not exist much. Vince McMahon has helped with turning wrestling into
a soap opera type of show. If you think breaking kayfabe is killing your product, then
you are years behind in thinking. Give the fans an honest product with good workers, or
should I say good TRAINED workers, then I promise you your attendance will be more
than 50 people a week and you might actually be able to pay some of the guys. I am
accused of breaking kayfabe and disrespecting the business when wives are feuding
with husbands [I made this mistake myself], one guy is a baby tagging with a guy on TV,
but wrestling him at the arena or you have three or four babys/heels eating in the same
restaurant after a show with tons of fans. Who is then breaking kayfabe??
----As I said, the old school version of kayfabe does not exist. I have listed 10 polices
that intend on complying with for this site.
#1: If you wear a mask, I will publish your other identity. It will probably not be your real
name, but your other work name. Not meant as disrespect.
#2: If I feel you have a horrible match, then I will report it. My opinion is all that it is.
Question?? Would you like for me to tell you it was good, when it was bad??
#3: If you are the booker of a show, then I will probably state you are the booker. This
will let other workers know whether they want to be part of your show.
#4: All my gates are guesses. I think I hit a few of them “too close” LOL It is simple
math. I publish gates because business in general is my background. I love that type of
thing and I have got good feedback about it.
#5: If I know your shoot name, not your worked name, then it is fair game.
#6: I will not remove any photos from my site. Most photos are “public domain” or they
are taken by me or my friends. I take them from all different kinds of web sites. If you
feel I am infringing on your copyright “rights”, and you can send me something to make
me believe I am doing that, then please do.
#7: I am not interested in publishing any “personal” stuff. I might tell your real name,
how many bookers you have worked for and who you have pissed off. LOL But, I am not
interested in divorces, how many rats you screwed or what one wrestler smelt like..LOL
Well I might be interested, but you will not see any of that stuff on my site.
#8: If you were a business partner with someone and considered it “silent”, then you are
wrong. Not meant as disrespect, but your partner [90% of the time] has told everyone
that will listen. So, if you have been partners with any of the promoters in this area and I
consider it prudent ant to the story, then I will say it.
